Golden sits right at the edge of the foothills, which makes it one of the most interesting — and most demanding — places we paint. Downtown Golden is full of late-1800s and early-1900s homes with real wood trim, narrow lots, and character we take seriously. The neighborhoods climbing up toward Lookout Mountain and Genesee sit higher, catch more sun and wind, and put a real test on any exterior finish.

That mix of terrain and history shapes how we approach a Golden project. Interior work in a downtown Victorian often means careful trim repair, plaster patching, and color choices that respect the original architecture. Exterior work along the foothills means UV-rated paint systems (Sherwin-Williams Emerald, Benjamin Moore Aura, or equivalent), tight caulking at every transition, and timing the work around Colorado's weather windows.

Golden's housing breaks into three rough groups. Historic downtown bungalows and Victorians near the School of Mines, where the trim, siding, and detail work often need wood repair and careful color matching before paint. Mid-century to 90s ranches and two-stories in the flatter neighborhoods, with typical Colorado siding and stucco. And the foothill homes above town — Fairmount, Mount Vernon Canyon, Genesee — which take the brunt of UV, wind, and hail and need the toughest exterior specs we offer.
